THE CROSSING looks forward to welcoming new and returning Badgers in September 2026. Announcements of our fall events, "Dinner-Dialogue" speakers, advocacy opportunities, small groups, Slow Food Cafe and Food Recovery meal schedules, are all forthcoming. You're invited to connect with Executive Director, Rev. Mike Burch for any questions or interests. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to The Crossing in whatever way you want to get involved!
THE CROSSING is a student led non-profit organization at UW-Madison, that is multifaith, inclusive, collaborative, and human rights centered in its purpose. It also operates as a UW Registered Student Organization.
The Crossing welcomes a diverse community of students, supports their academic journeys, spiritual explorations and commitments to particular traditions. The Crossing values the alignment among many traditions that advocate for marginalized, dehumanized or at risk communities. “The stranger is my neighbor “ is taught across faith traditions, and central to Jesus.
At The Crossing all students are welcome to enjoy free or low cost delicious, hot meals on a daily basis. The meal services are supported by an intentional food justice mission (see Blog) that is focused on healthy accessible food and a reduction of food waste.
Our weekly “Wednesday Dinner-Dialogue” gathering is casual, has great food, inspired speakers and intentional discussions about a variety of compelling topics for students. Regarding sacred writings, the Bible included, these deserve critical analysis, without prejudice, to help navigate the complexities of values and ethics from an inclusive faith perspective.
The Crossing is partnered with Slow Food Cafe, the Food Recovery Network, and UW Frozen Meals Program, who all serve meals at THE CROSSING. See our calendar for meal service days & times.
ALL students are welcome! The Crossing has no belief requirements. We welcome students regardless of religious or political affiliations or the absence of such commitments. Come, explore, learn and collaborate at The Crossing!
